Note the handful in one hand and single in the other. |
Before Jesse and Jeff’s cousin leave, they help out in the pasture. Jeff drives the tractor around to collect the piles of fallen branches that his cousin pulled together. It is so much fun to be outside that Ellie and I go into the “safe zone” round pen to watch. The round pen is covered in Poppies. Ellie picks flowers as I attempt to pull up all the weeds. It is still morning, so Ellie is in her pajamas. When the branch work is done, I have very little to show for my efforts, but Ellie has a handful of flowers in one hand and a single flower in the other. They are very special flowers, so much so that she will not let them go even after we return to the cool house. She crawls from room to room clutching her treasures that very quickly become naked stems, but you can follow her trek through the house with the orange petals left behind. She wouldn’t even let them go while I changed her into cooler day-clothes.

Still holding them even after pajamas came off. |
