Daddy's Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

A very busy morning, cleaning, packing, visiting with Mommy's sister and then heading up to Gettysburg.  Daddy loves Civil War History.  Uncle Steve, Aunt Sue and surprise guest Uncle Dan joined us in Gettysburg.

The hotel had a pool, so the first thing we did was take a dip!  Ellie showed off all her tricks, including swimming underwater 3 times and floating on her back.

Then, we headed down to the Farnsworth Inn for drinks, followed by dinner.  Ellie's usual bedtime was about the time we sat down for dinner, so... while everyone enjoyed their peanut soup, spoon bread and Jenny Wade bread loaf; Ellie and I danced, bounced, begged and pleaded for Ellie to fall asleep.  Not being an infant any longer, it was too exciting to simply fall asleep on Mommy's shoulder.  We even tried the Moby wrap.   Finally at 9pm as the last party member placed his fork down on the table to signal that the meal was over, Ellie passed out in by arms.  I had managed to eat while standing up, doing deep, knee bends; so I was satisfied and we all left to take a tour of the battle ground.  If I had not insisted, they would have headed right back to the hotel, but... you can not visit Gettysburg overnight without touring the battlefield in the dark, so we drove.  It had drizzled during dinner, so the park was especially spooky with a mist rising from the paved road.  It was very cool.
Ellie woke as we walked into the hotel and then it took her until 11:30 to get back to sleep!
