Funeral

Went to a friend's funeral this morning.  He was an older gentleman; long, happy life and ready to leave the pains and sufferings of older age.  His funeral was a beautiful celebration of his life.  We were planning to go Ellie-less, but complications arose and Ellie joined the congregation for about 10 minutes as I quietly shoved puffs into her mouth to keep her quiet and busy.  Then, she and I opted to walk the cemetery and grounds.  She found a keeper stick (wouldn't let go until I pried it out of her little paws when we got into the car to leave.)  And we found a ton of huge, black ants.  Ellie loves all creatures great and small.  These ants particularly fascinated her.  She tried to pick some up, she offered her fruit snacks to them (throwing them on the ground - scaring the poor ants into a frenzy.)  Finally, I pulled her away - they made me feel creepy and itchy.
Ellie did not enjoy wearing a puffy dress, but she really looked good.

Later this afternoon, Ellie met some chickens.  She already knows how to feed goats, so it was not a surprise to watch her squat down, pull up a tiny handful of grass and offer it to the chickens while saying, "HI!, HI!"
