We started a Winter Reading Program at the library yesterday. From Feb. 1 to mar.2 we are to read 30 books. Every time you read a book, you get to put a snowflake sticker on your Snuggle into Reading poster. It is day 2, we have read 33 books. Sure, some of them have been read twice and thrice, El chooses the books, but... now what?
Since we have started reading books after lunch (we do "school" for 5-10 minu
tes, pointing things out and talking about what is going on in each page), El has really gotten into books. Her favorites are, of course, the touch and feel books. When she plays in her room, she will immediately crawl to the bookshelf, fore go all the toys and begin pulling out books. I now keep the touch and feel books on the bottom shelf. She will pull out book after book and sit on the floor attempting to turn pages. I read the page and she will touch the feely spots, unless I have already touched them (then she just waits for me to lift the page a little so she can turn it)... if Daddy touches them first, El will follow and touch them, too...
So, we have our 30 books, on March 2, we turn in the sticker-ed poster and get to pick a book to keep from the library. I wonder if we get 30 more, can we pick out another book?! We are so proud of our little book worm.
